I feel this one is better than the previous one because with the added foliage and background, as a viewer I am still anticipating to see what everyone is so engrossed in. i feel as though the mystery is worth the "thing" sunset in this case. The facial future loss is take over by the background and the body language. Its the subtleties that win over.

Just my thought but, I think this is better than the first. The sky is more relevant here because you can see cloud formations, whereas in the last one it was just white. The details in the mountains are better as well. I think you're right that some of the detail is lost in the expressions, but the gestures are clear enough I think. But these are just my thoughts.

I like the composition quite a bit because of the mesmerized expressions of them all. I'd like to see a sharper focus and perhaps also to level that hand-rail a little, which is now sloping upwards. What else: well, if it were me I might try to crop the top until just above their heads and then crop the left side until maybe 1 1/2 inches behind the woman in the black shirt. This would tighten it even more, and yet still leave that wide open expanse on the right side to make clear what they're seeing. Just a thought, but please ignore if you disagree. It's all very subjective (which is what makes it fun).

I've been flipping back and forth between the two photos and decided I think this one is stronger. When you can see more of the foreground and the clouds are lighter, they actually just prove a distraction. The emphasis I really like here is the colors of the sky and the play of light and dark in the clouds (exemplified by the clouds in the upper left).

Beautiful shot.

Beautiful. I don't think the foreground is boring at all -- indeed, I'd like it blacker so it's only a silhouette. I would like to see how the mountain's silhouette can work with the scene. Nice shot.

Another wonderful capture. Interesting how the distortion of the bean prevented your reflection. But I do love the reflection, clarity and color of the cityscape. Truthfully I find yesterdays image ideal since the entire bean is visible and the buildings are a backdrop. I understand there were restrictions in this shot, it is still a great photo. I must visit this bean some day.

Fabulous shot, I like the two people there. I can understand you wanting the shot with no one around, I would be that way too but now that you have this perhaps more people will add interest.
It was well worth getting up early for.
I love this bean, so interesting. Will look for tomorrow's image.

@Kenton : Though often referred to as The Bean, this public sculpture is actually titled "Cloud Gate" and is by Anish Kapoor. You can read more about it on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_Gate) or elsewhere. :)

What a great shot. Is this bean thing supposed to represent something? Or is it just an art piece?

Thanks for the effort because it's a wonderful pic! I like the story behind it, too. I love Chicago and I hope to get back to it one day! Where is exactly is this Bean located? Once more, nice job on the Bean! =-)

You remember me. I was the one who rallied around having people around the bean, saying the interaction was part of what made it work. I wasn't wrong, but this is hella cool.

Hella cool. Plus a funny story to boot! ;)

I'm getting better about it, you know :)

I think this came out well enough, given how much the camera was struggling with light levels.

The combination of photo + commentary here is really hilarious. Plus, I really love how much of the picture is tree bark, all these lines and bumps leading your eye into this clearly hostile squirrel. Heh.

I don't know if you ever saw my first WRX. I've got some pictures of it online (http://www.clanspum.net/~houdini/WRX/before/). I loved that car. It was such a big deal to buy it new, no one in my family had ever owned a new car (really!). When I bought it, they weren't common cars in Santa Fe or Los Alamos. Now they're all over the place.

Even so, I didn't care about the paint like some people would. I thought that I was going to do a lot of driving in dirt and gravel, so I was prepared to see some scratches. Still, I couldn't help but notice the first few little dings and scratches.

In the ~4 months I owned that car, I probably washed it 8 times. Irresponsible, but what the heck. I was getting it dusty fairly often, and I wanted it to look good for a while. Every time I washed it, the next time it got dusty, there would be hand prints on the spoiler. This is especially strange because I made sure not to touch the spoiler after the first time I noticed this. I made sure that other people didn't touch the trunk, and there wasn't anything near it that you would touch. This lead to one conclusion...

People were fondling my goddamn car. I can only assume that this was in the work parking lot. What the hell is wrong with everyone?

I can only imagine how bad it would be if I had something unique, instead of a semi-common car in the second most popular color.
