This is the final shot of four that I was looking for comments on, and the second of two that I wanted truly assessed together. It was fired almost immediately after yesterday's shot.
I've zoomed in a bit, and suddenly the people seem so much more real to me. Instead of being part of a busy street scene, they have become the focus of the shot to me, and the busy street is just where they happen to be.
However, I feel like it's technically weak. I can't exactly explain why, but I think it's not as objectively "good" as yesterday's work. I also can't tell if it's slightly slanted to the left.
Perhaps they are both decent, but present wildly different subject matters, despite appearing to be of the same thing. Maybe yesterday's is rightfully under "Cityscape & Urban" - because the focus is the feeling of Michigan Ave, and today's should be under "People & Portraits", because the focus is this group of teens - who just happen to be hanging out on Michigan Ave. If that's the case, perhaps I shouldn't be trying to figure out which is "better" than the other at all. They are just different.
Thoughts?
A final note - I have tried to respond to every comment I have gotten so far. It turns out, though, that Aminus3 does not let people know when there's been a reply to their comment. So if you have commented on a photo of mine in the past, please scroll back to that photo if you are interested in my response. Thanks.
