The Bean, mostly without other darn people around.

Awhile back, I mentioned my desire on this blog to go photograph The Bean in early morning light. Partially because I thought the lighting would be good, but also because I didn't want to deal with the throng of people that always seems to be around it.

So, when Bill and Paul came out, we had this crazy idea that we would actually go see The Bean at some stupidly early time. We even agreed that this was still a good idea despite the fact that Bill and I were up talking until at least midnight every single night he was here. Yes, including the night before we decided to get up around 6 am to go visit The Bean.

Bill and I are very bright people, normally, but clearly we weren't thinking this all the way through.

Now, those people reading this right now who know me are laughing their fool heads off at our astounding lack of judgment. The people who don't know me are wondering why that might be the case. This is because they've never met me in the morning. Especially not at 6 am. Especially not at 6 am after almost no sleep. Especially not at 6 am after almost no sleep for several days running.

Suffice it to say, I'm really not a morning person. I would say my personality in the morning, even without sleep deprivation, is a bit nasty. Throw in some serious sleep deprivation, and I'm a walking recipe for disaster. In all honesty, it's amazing Bill didn't say we're not friends anymore and Paul didn't ask Bill why in the world we are friends and decide never to talk to me again.

However, this photo (and the others I got that morning), made all their suffering worth it.
