I swore to myself I wouldn't try to use the optical zoom on my camera again without a tripod, but my tripod broke on the way to New Mexico.*

I'm so glad I tried again. I don't think I could be happier with this shot.

Then my landlady's cat tried to get this bird. He missed.

*Note to Grandma: Not the nice tripod Grandpa gave me - that's still in Chicago. The lighter "travel" tripod that wasn't very good to begin with.
